  • “I came to Bangkok with a broken Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy circa 1930 bow looking for a recommendation to get a repair. After many suggest , Malaysian Philharmonic first violinist Peter Danis recommended Andy Franke as his bowed strings restorer of choice considering other option to go to Singapore or even Europe). I have to admit, I was slightly skeptical at first; as the fragment was not clean and regaining the bow's balance, bounce, weight and tension was considered only Upon completion of the repair, I was aback. Not only did the bow look as though it had not any from of trauma but I personally felt that it's special qualities had been enhanced as a result of the workmanship. Without further ado, I give Mr. Franke my highest recommendation for any restoration, luthier and bowed strings consultancy work. It had been without a doubt a pleasant outcome. Who would have expected that such craftsmanship existed beyond European borders?”

  • “I want to thank you for giving me the oppotunity of trying your impressive bow collection and esprecially, for lending me this wonderful Franz Albert Nürnberger made around 1880. It is a true soloist bow. I've never encountered someone with a collection of more than 50 bows. Also, I want to thank you for your most recent work you have done on my French, Mirecourt school violin made around 1850-60. With the bridge, sound post and setting you made, my French violin never sounded so Italian Many compliments from quite a number of my colleagues from the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra for your impeccable re-hairing and for the use of the Siberian hair”
